Era diventato famoso, infatti, non solo per la sua straordinaria abilità a districarsi nel mondo della finanza – aveva fatto l’apprendistato nella Banca Privata Italiana di Michele Sindona – ma soprattutto per le sue sfuriate. Ce ne accorgemmo un giorno quando decise di partecipare alle trattative e, avvertendo una resistenza da parte dei sindacalisti della BNA, ci gridò in faccia che aveva speso centinaia di miliardi per comprarci ed adesso “eravamo suoi”.

La fusione si fece. Il primo ottobre del 2000. Passarono solo cinque anni e chi aveva ancora più soldi, la multinazionale con sede in Olanda, l’ABN AMRO, comprò a sua volta l’Antonveneta.
